“Scrap Yards Are Great, I Wouldn’t Have One In My Backyard Though”, 2022

Throughout this project, Wootton-Davies was following his Grandfathers early life and career path. After a somewhat abusive childhood, his Grandfather dedicated his life to carrying out jobs for the sole purpose of them being enjoyable; he therefore ended up purchasing a car breakers yard and worked there until his death in 1997.

His Grandfather experienced a wealthy upbringing, but a childhood that today would be considered abusive. his Grandfathers ears were surgically ‘docked’ leaving them misshaped; Wootton-Davies explores this topic over this project in a successful attempt to portray masculinity vs vulnerability.
